You wouldn’t knowing it looking out the window today, but summer is not that far off in the distance. I can’t think of a better place to spend a beautiful summer night, than at Ravinia. Schedules came out for 2016. Who are you going to go see?

HIGHLAND PARK, IL – The stars will shine upon Highland Park once again this summer.
Paul Simon, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Diana Ross and Tony Bennett will lead another star-stacked lineup at Ravinia Festival during the summer of 2016.
The popular summer concert series at the outdoor Highland Park venue was revealed early Wednesday morning on the Ravinia website.
Simon is set for a Saturday, June 18 show at the Ravinia Pavilion. Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons will play on Sunday, June 12, Diana Ross on Wednesday, July 27 and Tony Bennett – who performed the most popular Ravinia show last year with Lady Gaga – will make an encore on Saturday, August 13.
Those are just the biggest of an all-star lineup that includes several big names. Among the others are Patti LaBelle (June 23), Duran Duran (July 8), the Steve Miller Band (July 2) and the Zukerman Trio (July 28).
Bob Dylan will play on June 24.
Ravinia’s summer concert series kicks off on Thursday, June 2 with Concert Dance Inc. and concludes on Sunday, Sept. 11 with Bugs Bunny at the Symphony.

In the mood to kick off the holiday season?
There are plenty of Villages sponsoring tree lighting ceremonies this weekend. I am heading to the one in Libertyville tonight. Here is a link with a list of local festivities…
Libertyville is ranked #15 on Nerdwallet’s list of the best places to start a business in Illinois!
Tis the season for tree-lighting
Although the outside temperatures more closely resemble Chicago in January, Thanksgiving is really less than a week away. The arrival of Thanksgiving brings a ton of crazy shoppers, but more importantly, it traditionally marks the start of the holiday season. Lake County is home to fabulous communities – to Villages and Cities who make a remarkable effort to provide an abundance of fabulously fun events for residents. Many of the communities structure several hours of activities around their tree lighting ceremonies, with quite a few including parades, Santa’s arrival, and performances by student bands and choirs. And, these events help stretch your holiday budget farther – they are all FREE!
